day 4

Day 4 - Favorite Book

i read ALL THE TIME when i was little. then as soon as i hit high school, i hated reading. and still hated it through college. up until about a year ago, i never read. now, i have a new found love. :) here are a few to check out.

The Five Love Languages - Gary Chapman
If you haven't read this book with your spouse yet .. READ IT!!!! When we went through pre-marital counseling before our wedding, our pastor referenced this book so many times. He said we should definitely read it, and read it out loud together. It is such an amazing book, and strenghtens any relationship, instantly. Check it out!!! I also highly recommend "Sheet Music" by Dr. Kevin Lehman for any engaged couple (or already married). It's awesome!

Harry Potter Series - J.K. Rowling
ok, even though i've only read two of them, i love harry potter, and i plan on reading all the rest. but like i said, i hated reading in high school and college so i was stupid and didn't read the earlier ones. also, i still dont know how it ends bc i havent read "Deathly Hallows" so PLEASE DONT SAY ANYTHING TO ME ABOUT IT!!!!!! I will cry if i find out how it ends now after waiting SO LONG to see the last movie! :)

Something Borrowed - Emily Giffin
My cousin gave me this for my birthday and I was so excited to read it after hearing so many of my friends praise it. Such a good read! I can't wait to read the others by her!

Inside of a Dog - Alexandra Horowitz
Animal lovers, rejoice!! This is a GREAT book! It is so fascinating and interesting and I couldn't take my eyes away from the pages. I love my dogs like my own children and this book is so insightful into the mind of the dog. It made me totally change the way I think, they think. If that makes sense? :)

DRUM ROLL PLEASE........

And the best book of all time ........

da da da dum......

Breaking Dawn - Stephenie Meyer
Shut up. This is the best book i've ever read. If you havent read the Twilight series, you need to read it... and especially THIS ONE! I cannot WAIT for the movie to come out, and it's going to be TORTURE waiting for part II. (the movie is splitting the book into two parts.. part one of the movie comes out..and then A YEAR LATER part 2 comes out). amazing amazing amazing.

day 3

Day 3 - Favorite TV show

or for me ... favorite tv "shows." by now, you all know that I can't have just one of anything. (besides my husband :) )

some all time faves include: A Baby Story, Say Yes to the Dress, My Fair Wedding with David Tutera, Project Runway, The Bachelor, Teen Mom (haha), and Toddlers and Tiaras.

As you can tell .. I am a reality show freak. If I had to pick a "series" that's not reality, i'd say Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, or Grey's Anatomy :)

starting the 30 Day Blog Journal

i've been wanting to Blog more lately, but have been running out of things to talk about ... orrr ive just been too lazy to write. So I'm doing the popular, 30 Day Blog Journal, and hopefully, it will keep you entertained while you're bored at work. :) so here goes nothing.

Day 1 - Favorite Song

Are you kidding me?? That's what we start with. I LOVE music. So it is really annoying when people ask me this question. I don't have a favorite song, I have about 100 favorite songs. So for this day, I turned to my handsome husband and asked him... "if someone asked you what my favorite song was, what would you say?" his response.... (btw, yes im talking to him on IM. yes he's in his office and im in the bedroom...yes, we're weird) This is word for word...copy and paste.. no editing involved..haha

Matt: i'd probably say that in the top 10
was the song from les miserables (he's referring to "One Day More")
..ok, so that, probably a john mayer song
not even sure what your favorite song of his is (ehh, I'd go with "Comfortable" or "Assassin")
juicy (Notorius B.I.G.- duh!)
defying gravity (from Wicked)
at least one britney song (we'll go with "Me Against the Music" or "Toxic")
that hanson song - penny and me (classic. but if we're going old school Hanson I'd say "Madeline")

and there you have it folks... my "favorite song" in my husband's opinion. and i have to say, he knows me pretty well!! :) see you tomorrow for day 2!

ohhhh yeah

AND matt is STILL doing P90X folks, I can't go without talking about it. He has not missed a DAY! (besides his rest day that he gets once a week, that he doesnt have a scheduled workout) He is on like, Day 160 or something crazy!?! So, he's almost finished 2 whole rounds of P90X and he reached his goal of getting below 200 lbs, just the other day. I am so proud of him and his dedication is EXTREME! I am so glad I have such a passionate husband who puts all of his heart and effort into things he loves and cares about. So proud of you, lamb!!

here he is at Day 1, Day 42, Day 90, and Day 154~!

And here he is... eleven toes and all... showing off his proud accomplishment!! :)

august

sorrrrrrrrrrryyyyy!!!!! i have been MIA. you wouldn't believe how busy the month of August has been. It has FLOWN by, seems like my birthday was just the other day. Anyway, I'm more than ecstatic that August has flown by because it's my LEAST favorite month of the year. I hate August. It's the hottest month. It's miserable. It's too far away from Christmas. It airs back to school commercials that still feel my heart with panic and sadness. It's going to be 11 more months til I have a birthday again. AND it makes me wait and wait for September when football season and fall air move in. Needless to say, I am SO HAPPY August is nearly over. But since I haven't shared with you what all has gone on this month.. here's a little recap.

My Birthday Dinner out with the Girls... This is me with Cathleen and my sister, Lindsey..

Every Monday night, my best friends and I eat dinner over at Sarah's house, and her mom cooks us a wonderful meal. This was my "birthday" dinner. and The Chocolate Shoppe cookie cake was phenom. If only Wells and Callie would have been there :(

Then... on August 15th, came a special birthday surprise. Ok, so it wasn't REALLY a birthday surprise, but it was a purchase worthy of calling it a bday surprise since it was only 2 weeks after my birthday. As you all probably know, I had my car (A 2001 Nissan Xterra) since I was 15 years old. And it has been through EVERYTHING with me. I love her (Betsy, was her name) dearly, but it was time for me to move on. After shopping around all weekend and a lot of bargaining, we came out with this little baby. And her name is Brigitte Bardot :)

I was SO EXCITED!!!

In case you don't know who the real Brigitte Bardot is... she is the EVER so GLAMOROUS and BEAUTIFUL annnnnnnd she just happens to be an animal rights activist (which is a plus :) ) here is the lovely lady..

OK ANYWAY. I can't go without mentioning the main thing that I spent August doing.. preparing for Ashley and Matt's Wedding. It was a crazy day, but we had SO much fun, and Ashley was gorgeous!!! I will post pics from the wedding day when the photographer posts them, but here's a glimpse at how pretty Ash was. I was HONORED to be her Matron of Honor, which still sounds weird to me bc i dont think im a matron. :)

so that was my august so far. i cant think that'd it'll be too much more eventful. this friday im babysitting and sunday i have another wedding shower (yay ashley sargent!!!) and then... and only then... will it be the week we've all been waiting for since that dreadful ACC Championship Game in December.... you know what im talking about ... next week. will be the week COLLEGE FOOTBALL BEGINS. And we're playing North Texas, so we better win. I am MORE EXCITED THAN YOU KNOW about football and fall and leaves and pumpkins. I love fall i love fall i love fall!!! and i love you all :)

ps- sorry i can't get my text to do right around those pictures. oh well. you get the point.

just call me Martha..

so i've been up to a lot lately. had a big ol' 24th birthday on Saturday... but also shared my day with my cousin :) we had a lovely bridal shower for her at Claremont Clubhouse. it turned out great! i wanted to make something special and kind of fun, so last week during my "free time" i made some things. all things considered, especially the fact that ive never been good at arts and crafts, i think i did a pretty good job. here are the flower balls i attempted to make...

ok i cant get my pictures to go in the order i want them to, so they're just going to all be at the bottom. so i made those pretty flower balls... and here are the directions i followed.. they were SO EASY!! POM-POMS AND LUMINARIES

THEN i made some cute little "chocolate pops". they were simple too. i listed a picture of the ingredients and then the finished product. also, i tied some little notes on them that said "Sweet Love" and had the bride and groom's names and wedding date. they were so cute! and yummy. got the idea from Bakerella and the lovely Megan Ayers, who's made a few pops already :) please excuse my messy kitchen!!

i will post again soon with birthday pics, shower pics, and a more detailed recap of this past week... and things to look forward to for fall!! have a happy week! -B
